Organization of postgraduate education

Postgraduate programs are: advanced research postdoctoral programs; postgraduate training and continuing professional development programs; postgraduate training programs.

Advanced postdoctoral research programs are intended for persons who have obtained a doctorate in science no later than 5 years before admission to the postdoctoral program or who have participated in and obtained the certificate of excellence in the “Marie Sklodowska Curie” competitions organized by the European Commission, regardless of when they obtained their doctorate.

Postdoctoral programs have a minimum duration of one year and can be funded by public institutions or economic operators.

Postdoctoral programs can be organized only within the doctoral schools accredited for the organization of doctoral study programs or within the research-development units, based on the research plan proposed by the postdoctoral researcher and approved by the host institution.

Admission to postdoctoral programs is based on the methodology developed by the host institution, in accordance with the legislation in force.

Upon completion of the postdoctoral program, the postdoctoral researcher receives a certificate of postdoctoral studies.

Continuing education and postgraduate programs aim to update / develop / improve one or more competencies or units of competency (s) in one or more university qualifications or one or more occupational standards, related to an occupation that can be practiced only by one university graduate.

Postgraduate training and continuing professional development programs may be organized by accredited higher education institutions, which have accredited at least undergraduate and master’s degree programs in the respective scientific field.

Postgraduate training and continuing professional development programs may be organized for a fee or with funding from other sources.

Graduates who have at least a university degree with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent have the right to participate in postgraduate training and continuing professional development.

Upon completion of the postgraduate training and professional development programs, the organizing institution issues a certificate attesting to the professional competencies specific to the program.

Order no. 4,750 / 2019, with subsequent amendments and completions, approves the Framework Methodology for the organization and functioning of postgraduate programs for training and continuous professional development, and order no. 5,370 / 2012 approves the model of the certificate of attestation of professional competencies and of the descriptive supplement.

The postgraduate training programs aim at updating / developing / improving the skills of short-term university graduates who have not continued their studies in order to obtain a bachelor’s degree.

Postgraduate training programs may be organized by accredited higher education institutions, which have accredited at least undergraduate and master’s degree programs in the respective scientific field.

Postgraduate training programs may be organized for a fee or with funding from other sources.

Graduates with a short-term higher education diploma or a bachelor’s degree or equivalent have the right to participate in postgraduate training programs.

Upon completion of the postgraduate training programs, the organizing institution issues a graduation certificate.
